Renaissance: Teacher Guide

Teachers and students have access to two key software programs within the Renaissance app, AR (accelerated reading), and Ren. STAR Reading & Math Assessments. Teachers can access Renaissance via their Clever portal.

Starting August 1st, 2023, scholars and staff will no longer have access to MyOn digital library. This is
due to various reasons such as cost-saving measures, misuse, and the need to have scholars return to
reading physical books to strengthen their actual reading abilities.

 

In this article:

Who has access?

  • All IDEA Teachers, AR Zone Facilitators & Co-Teachers and students grades 1-8 have access to Renaissance within Clever.

         Renaissance access includes:

    • Accelerated Reader
    • Ren. Star Assessments
  • Campus & HQ Leaders
    • Principals, APIs, Interventionists and Regional Coaches have broader access to campus reporting data via their IDEA Staff & Leader Portal Clever.

 

How to Login with Clever (Teachers, AR Zone Facilitators & Co-Teachers)

1. Go to Clever on any device.

2. Click Student & Teacher Login.

 

3. From your Clever account, click on District Page, then on the Renaissance app for your state.

How to access AR or Ren. Star Assessments

  • In the Renaissance app, click on your desired application.

Common Issues and Solution Steps 

  • Use the table below to identify issues with AR and Ren. Star assessments. 
  • Follow the suggested solution steps.

AR 

Student receives error that he/she has no products assigned.
  • Confirm the student has a homeroom class within his/her PowerSchool schedule.
  • If not, reach out to campus SIS coordinator to have the student’s PowerSchool updated.

Student starts the wrong quiz but did not finish the quiz.
  • If the student has not finished the quiz, the facilitator can stop the quiz with the AR monitor password.

Student starts and finishes the wrong quiz.
  • The facilitator will deactivate the quiz.  If facilitator needs help with the steps, he/she will reach out to the course leader.

Facilitator does not see all classes listed or cannot access reports.
  • Confirm that the AR Facilitator job title is listed as, "AR Zone Facilitator" within all IDEA systems. Check with campus admin assistant to confirm.

Ren. STAR Assessments

Student receives error that he/she has no products assigned. 

 

  • Confirm the student has a homeroom class within his/her PowerSchool schedule.
  • If not, reach out to campus SIS coordinator to have the student’s PowerSchool updated.

 

Student unable to pass the reading pre-test.

 

  • Students unable to pass the reading pre-test, should not be given assistance.  They are considered emerging readers and will not have a Ren. STAR score.
